I've said it before and I'll say it again, losing stinks, but I'm going to tell you boys something, you are winners. Nobody can argue that. I don't like to make excuses but I think a lot of the boys on the D-backs are older boys. Not to take anything away from the way they played, but their overall team experience was evident. Congratulations to the Mountian Dew Diamond Backs on one whale of a game. They went undefeated all year and deserve the gold medal. The Great Plains Dodge Giants will come out next year with their guns blazing. We'll miss Cole, Cody, Luke, and Jack. Here's wishing you the best of luck in A league, on the Hastings A's, or whatever you decide to do. We'll be seeing each other from time to time. That's one thing about being on a team for a couple of years with people, you don't just become teammates you become freinds.

Second place out of twelve teams is something to be proud of. Think about it, there are ten other teams that would take a second place in a heart beat, and you guys have it. That's pretty cool in anybody's book.

I know Myles won't forget hitting a home run at Duncan. Now that was way cool, I don't care who you are.

Sitting in the dug out after the game I just looked around and I still felt like it was some kind of a dream. It was really fun tonight, don't you think, the atmosphere I mean. Your names coming over the loud speaker, the music playing, I don't know, I thought the whole thing was fun. Kind of makes me want to do it again next year, how about you?

Have fun the rest of the summer and be safe. Always remember your B league Championship Game, and I know you will, but remember how much fun it was.

Thanks guys it's been one heck of a year.

Giants vs Cardinals

I made a mistake in my score keeping. After talking to a father of one of the Cardinal players I realized my error. The Cardinals scored one run before Cole tagged the runner coming from third for the final out of the game. My apologies to the Cardinals.

Way to go Giants. Wow what a game!

You boys continually play some of the best baseball I've had the privilege of watching. You deserve to play in the Championship game. You earned every inch of the upcoming opportunity to play on Duncan field. It's your game, it's your season, and it's going to be your night. We make our own luck, we make it by concetrating and maintaining focus. You've concentrated and maintained your focus for three hard fought games and came out on top each time. I guarantee you the outcome of Tuesday's game will be the same if you come with YOUR winning attitude.

We as coaches and parents are along for the ride. A ride that for some of us started a year ago. It's been bumpy, it hasn't always been this fun, but Tuesday night at 8:00 down in the dug-out at Duncan field all that stuff will be a million miles away. We're going to mentally take the ride you guys put us on this year and ride it over and over and over, like the Kamikaze at the county fair. Thank you boys for working so hard, thanks for being winners, let's let Duncan see how good we can be, let's bring our luck with us when we come Tuesday. You carry it around with you all the time you know, it's your focus and concetration, all you have to do is keep your head in the game, the rest will come natrually!

Here's the hitters list for the game with the Cardinals. Cole had three hits, and one was a double, way to go Cole. Myles, Anthony, Tyson and Luke each had one. Keep making contact boys and this list will be longer Tuesday. It's scored a hit when you get on first base safely. If you make contact with the ball and the fielders use it to get the third out your not safely on first so your contact with the ball doesn't count as a hit. Guys on base were, Myles twice, Joe once, Jan once, Cole three times, Nathanial once, Cody three times, Anthony once, Tyson once, Luke once, and Nathan once. Now that's how you win ball games, getting guys on base. Yeah buddy! It's the batters job to make the pitcher pitch. It's the pitchers job to make you hit. They call good pitches strikes, we hit the strikes, there're the only pitches that can get you out.

Great job guys way to maintain your focus and get the job done. We need to remember to congratulate the Rays on being one of the classiest teams in the league. I thought I told you boys to not have such close games anymore. Man-o-man it's hard for an old guy like me to take this. But I'll tell you what, you guys had better keep on your toes cause the Cardinals are not going to roll over and let us win on Sunday. They want to play in the Championship game as bad as we do.

Two more games gentlemen, and they determine the outcome of all the hard work we've put in at all the practices, all the games and all the hours in the back yards of your homes. Pull them hats down one more time, warm up those throwing arms real good and let's set our sights on taking this thing all the way to the top. Let's show up Sunday ready to play baseball like we've played the last two games. We've worked hard to make ourselves into the team we are, and you should be proud of the fact that you are a good team. You are truely a group of exceptional boys. Not just in baseball either, everyone of you boys will be good at whatever it is you put your minds to, if you work as hard at it as you've worked at being a baseball team this year.

On top of the hit list is Joe with two, followed by Myles and Nathan with one each. Those three hitters also scored our three runs. Guys on base tonight also included Jan, Cole, Tyson and Peyton. Way to go boys.

Oh my goodness.......I don't know where to begin. What a game, you boys should be very proud of yourselves. That's how baseball is supposed to be played, and I mean that.

We started out kind of slow, but needless to say came around when it counted, in the end. Jack your hit in the bottom of the sixth inning that scored Luke to tie the game is something you will remember for the rest of your life. That was extremely cool. Way to go buddy. All you guys did something tonight you will remember FOREVER. Super job boys, way to stay in the game and keep focused. Cole's game winning single in the bottom of the seventh that scored Joe was a thing of beauty. I felt like a ton of bricks had been lifted of my back and all I do is stand there, I can't imagine how you guys felt.

The Indians played us close all season. We were fortunate to come out on top all three times. They deserve all our respect for the way they played, a special pat on the back to Zach Glass, keep your head up buddy you played very well, you have nothing to be upset about.

Hitters were lead by Cole with two singles,including the game winner in the bottom of the seventh, followed by Joe with a double, then Myles, Cody, Anthony, and Jack with singles.

Guys on base were Joe, Jan, and Cole each twice, and Myles, Nathanial, Cody, Anthony, Luke, Jack, Peyton each once.

Remember when I said I hoped the list of guys with hits and on base would be longer the next game.....feast your eyes on those lists of names.....way to go guys.

Maintain your focus one more game and you're in Duncan. What ever happens you need to know this Coach is very proud of all you've done. I'm sure I can speak for all the Coaches and Parents when I say "Good job boys! Good job team!"

Giants vs. Braves

It's always disappointing to lose a game, and to lose the first game in tounaments really stinks, but we have to shake it off and come out swinging Monday night. The Braves are a good team and they showed us that tonight. All I have to say is, look out Indians.

On base tonight were Myles, Joe, Cole, Nathanial, Cody, Anthony, Tyson, Nathan, and Thomas. Coming across the plate and scoring a run were, Nathanial with two, and Myles, Joe, Cole, and Cody each had one. Hitters included Joe, Cole, and Anthony. Way to go guys. It would be nice to see more names in the hitters and on base lists after the next game. You're all good kids and everybody is trying their hardest sometimes luck plays a part in the game. I believe you make your own luck, and we're due!

Giants vs. Cardinals

Giants win another close low scoring game and clinch the number one seed in our half of the B-League. All teams start with a clean slate come tournament time though! Every team has a equal shot at making it to Duncan this year. Everybody has to bring their A game to make a go of it. Everybody includes players, coaches, umpires and Parents. Let's all remember it's a game being played by nine and ten year old boys, coached by volunteer coaches who are umpired by boys thirteen and fourteen years old.

Giants hit leaders were Cole with two, one was a double, and Cody, Joe and Anthony each had one. Guys scoring runs were Myles, Joe, Cole, Nathan and Anthony. Players on base tonight included Cody, Myles, Joe, Cole, Nathan, Luke, Anthony, Peyton, and Tyson. Everybody is swinging the bat and our defense was awsome tonight. Good job everybody! We've really come together as a team! Get ready for tournament time!!!!!

Giants vs. Indians

What a beautiful night for a ball game. Perfect weather and perfect outcome of the game! Way to go GIANTS! Wow, the boys came to play tonight. The defense was on top, the pitching was out of sight, and the bats came alive. Good job boys. The hitters list is Nathanial and Myles with two, Jack, Joe and Tyson each had one. Myles squeaked out a triple and Tyson had a two RBI double. You have to be on base to score and the boys who came across the plate were Nathanial, Peyton, Jack, Luke and Myles. Players to reach base with walks were Cole, Luke, and Peyton. Keep swinging at the strikes Cody, Nathan, Thomas, Anthony, and Jan, I'll guarantee you will connect. Looks like one more game in the regular season against the Cardinals next Monday. Practice tomorrow at Spady's house. See you there!

Giants vs. Rays

Sorry I wasn't there tonight but my other son Mason started his tournament games tonight and I felt obligated to help his team. Coach Carey always comes and we owe him a big THANKS for all he does. THANKS Coach! Well, the Rays came to play that's for sure. I watched between innings of Masons game and it looked like they had a pretty good pitcher. We'll be ready next time.

Make-up game with Braves

Carter field was nice to us in more then one way, not only was it shaded but it got us a win as well. The Braves had beat us earlier in the year but this time we came out on top 9-2. Both sides played good games. Personally I'd rather not have to play these guys in the tounament they're pretty good! The hitting leaders go as follows; Cole had three hits with two RBI's, Myles had two hits with two RBI's, Joe had one hit with two RBI's, Anthony had a hit with one RBI, and Nathanial had two hits, way to go guys. You all should be proud of how you played. Everytime you get on base you are a potential run. Keep it up! Guys that scored a run were Cody 2, Myles 2, Joe, Cole, Luke Thomas, and Nathanial. Joe and Myles both had a double. Being in the batters box and hitting the strikes is the batters job but if the pitcher can't give you one to hit it's important not to swing at bad pitches, players that reached base with walks, or as they are scored, base on balls, were Cody 2, Joe, Nathan (1rst night), Luke 2, Thomas 3, Jack, Anthony, Natanial, and Jan. Like I said earlier everyone that gets on base is a potential run we need all our guys on base. Go Giants!

Rain

Our game Wed. June 24th was called due to lightning in the area just as we were starting the second inning. Rescheduling is still being discussed. We'll let the players know when the make-up game will be. Have fun in Mexico Cole!

Giants vs. Rockies

With the heat index reportedly supposed to be around 100 I didn't know what to expect. Thankfully everybody tolerated the heat and played well. Hydration was essential! Joe Carey and Cody Barbee each pitched 44 and Nathan Karr totalled 17. Joe lead all hitters with a three run RBI triple in the second inning. Cole Spady, Cody, Nathan and Jack Nelson all recorded hits too. (Way to go Jack!!!) The way I had it scored all players had at least one RBI. RBI leaders were Joe with three, Peyton Middleton two, and Thomas Kerr had two. The Rockies players and Coaches deserve much credit for how they play the game and we all need to keep that in mind it is just a game!
